HOW DO THE SIX FORMS OF ENERGY DIFFER?
Chemical energy:
This energy is stored in some substances.
Chemical energy is stored in food.
Chemical energy can be stored in batteries.
Thermal energy:
This is energy in the form of heat. Thermal energy heats objects up. When an object releases thermal energy, it cools down.
Light energy:
This is energy in the form of light. The Sun is a natural source of light energy.
Electrical energy:
This is energy in the form of electricity. Electricity travels to homes and factories in the through metal cables.
Nuclear energy:
This type of energy is stored in the atomic structure of all matter. Scientists release this energy by breaking down radioactive materials (uranium). In nuclear power stations, nuclear energy is transformed into the electrical energy that we use.
HOW MANY FORMS OF ENERGY ARE THERE?
Energy appears in many forms and is used in different ways. The main forms of energy are: mechanical, chemical, electrical, thermal, light and nuclear.
Mechanical energy:
Energy that produces movement is called mechanical energy. It's the energy that enables people and things to move, go faster or change direction.
We also use mechanical energy to change the direction that an object is travelling in.
What types of mechanical energy are there?
There are two types of mechanical energy: kinetic energy and potential energy.
Kinetic energy: this is energy in the form of movement.
Potential energy: this is energy in the form of potential movement, when tou lift an object, you give it potential energy.

WHY'S THE TERTIARY SECTOR IMPORTANT IN THE EU?
The tertiary sector is very large in the European Union (EU). There's a lot of trade between EU members because of transport and economic links between these countries.
EU member countries have many economic links that make trade easier. The EU has a common currency, the euro.
In recent years transport links have improved in the EU. There are many flights and the Channel Tunnel make it easier to move products and people from one country to another.
The time differences between member countries are small. Their offices are open at the same or similar times.
Reducing consumption in the EU:
The European Environment Agency (EEA) promotes responsible consumption in the EU. It encourages countries to trade:

HOW ARE PRODUCTS ADVERTISED?
There are many ways to advertise products and services. The most common ones are on television, on the Internet and in newspapers and magazines.
Advertisements tells consumers about a product or a service. They also encourage people to buy that product or service.
Many companies offer the same products or services, so they must compete with each other for sales. Some companies use very aggressive advertisements to get the consumer's attention. This encourages people to consume lots of products and services without thinking carefully.
Responsible consumption.
Sometimes people consume more products and services than they really need. We can be responsible consumers if we control our use of products and services. This will also help us to save energy and limited resources.
